From 2012 through 2023, AZSFWC awarded $1,508,257 in grants through our conserving wildlife license plate fund. From time to time, an organization does not need all of the funds originally requested, or an event is cancelled after the grant has been funded. Those funds come back to AZSFWC to use for future grants. This leaves the total amount utilized during this period at $1,457,709.
Grant funds are utilized for 3 general purposes:
- on-the-ground wildlife habitat restoration and enhancement projects
- educational opportunities that promote conservation
- recruitment and retention activities that promote conservation
During the period 2012 – 2023, the funds were distributed for these purposes in the following manner:
- Habitat – $775,914 (53%)
- Education – $342,630 (23%)
- Recruitment/Retention – $339,165 (24%)
