Nue Is Cooped Up Inside His Own Head In The “Fever” Video

The rapper’s Iroquois project is out now.

September 07, 2017

Nue just signed a deal with 300 Entertainment, making the rapper the first Canadian to join the storied label and home of Migos, Young Thug, Shy Glizzy, and Tee Grizzley. To celebrate, The FADER is premiering the video for "Fever," the opening track from his latest project Iroquois. Like his song "Alaska" (which we dropped the video for in May), "Fever" is vulnerable without being cloying – Nue's flow is heavily processed and bleary eyed, but still sharply focused in its melding of the source of his pain and his dedication to party through.

"I had no intentions of a making a drugged out love song," Nue wrote to The FADER over email, "but it just became that. I got into an argument with my girl at the time and I needed to numb myself. It was all about the vibe. I wanted the video to reflect the kind of uncertainty that I was feeling that day."

The track's video, directed by IR/918 studios, achieves that effect through special effects like thermal vision and a Lynchian strobe, as well as lots of heavy looks from Nue and his companion as they're holed up in a cabin.
