Atrium Receives a Beautiful Facelift
A big thank you to the Blair family for sponsoring a lovely upgrade to our Atrium in honor of their daughter Cathryn. This outdoor nook is located in Youth Services - check it out before winter weather sets in.
The Library Has a New Mission Statement!
After careful consideration of all of the community feedback, the Library Board has developed a new mission statement: The Colonie Town Library empowers people of all ages and abilities to connect, learn and grow by providing access to lifelong learning, technology, cultural programming and promoting the joy of reading. In keeping with this new statement, our tagline is now Connect, Learn, Grow.

Historical Society of the Town of Colonie: Mapping David Vaughn’s New York

Presented by Craig Williams. Recently retired as a Senior Historian at the New York State Museum after more than 30 years of service, Mr. Williams was also the Director of the DeWitt Historical Society of Tompkins County in Ithaca from 1978 to 1983, and curator at the Erie Canal Museum from 1976 through 1977. David Vaughn (d 1865) was an Irish immigrant who came to Albany in the late 1840s. Skilled in tools and techniques that were sorely needed by New York State as it resumed its first enlargement of the Erie Canal, Vaughn soon became nationally recognized not only for his talent in drafting maps and plans, but also for his keen observations of life along the Erie Canal.

Hosted by the Friends of the Library, the tree provides a fun, bright fall decoration and an opportunity to make a donation to the Friends. Our most popular Noon reviewer, local attorney Steve Coffey, will review Jeffrey Toobin’s new book American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes and Trial of Patty Hearst. About the book: “The saga of Patty Hearst highlighted a decade in which America seemed to be suffering a collective nervous breakdown. Based on more than a hundred interviews and thousands of previously secret documents, American Heiress thrillingly recounts the craziness of the times (there were an average of 1,500 terrorist bombings a year in the early 1970s). Toobin portrays the lunacy of the half-baked radicals of the SLA and the toxic mix of sex, politics, and violence that swept up Patty Hearst and re-creates her melodramatic trial. [The book] examines the life of a young woman who suffered an unimaginable trauma and then made the stunning decision to join her captors’ crusade. Paranormal Society Library Reading

collecting boxed and canned food to donate to local pantries. Please help us to fill our
basket for families in need!
BOOK CLUBS
There’s a group for every age, kindergarten through high school. Sign up and we’ll give you a book to read at home, come back for a book talk, games, & snacks! Book Clubs for younger children include an adult.
