Claudia Bouvette keeps it effortlessly classy on "Cool It"
With "Cool It", Quebec newcomer Claudia Bouvette delivers a debut single immediately cementing her as a pop prospect to watch.
The icy, minimalistic track frames Bouvette's vocal as it flips between gentle whisper and confident half-rap, bringing light and shade to the elegantly understated cut. Lyrically, Bouvette narrates a familiar tale: regaining balance after extricating onesself from an unsuccessful relationship. She casts these words against a glittering electronic soundscape, comprised of Scandi-pop-esque synths and subtle, judisciously applied basslines.
Bouvette summarises the message of "Cool It" best, saying: "when difficulties seize your best, take a moment to collect yourself and find your symmetry."
As well as being Bouvette's debut single, "Cool It" is the title track taken from her forthcoming debut EP, due out 18 June. Comprised of eight tracks co-written with producer Connor Seidel, the EP promises a glut of sleek new offerings from Bouvette that will allow listeners further chances to enter her slick, shadow sonic world.
