“The mission of Central Louisiana Interfaith is to build relational power in order to take action on issues that affect the common good of our communities.”

We are a broad-based community organization made up of congregations, non-profits, and civic organizations that cut across race, belief, and economics. 

We are strictly non-partisan. 

Our work is about making positive change for all of the members of our community and doing the difficult work of cultivating relationships across the barriers that all-too-often divide us.

What is relational power?

Relational power is the capacity to influence others and be influenced by others. It is the power that exists with others and not the power that exists over others. 

We believe that our community thrives when more people are able to exercise their relational power together, and when this is a regular part of community life.

How do we decide what we work on?

Through our relational work. In other words, we do not decide what we work on first. We decide who we have energy and excitement to work with first and get to know each other accordingly. Our issue-work stems from our relationships, not the other way around. 

Our work is rooted in our stories and day-to-day lived experiences, not opinions and political “takes.”

Central Louisiana Interfaith is part of the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), the nation’s oldest and largest broad-based organizing network. There are more than 65 IAF organizations around the country, including projects in Baton Rouge, the Louisiana Delta, New Orleans, Pointe-Coupee Parish, and Shreveport-Bossier.
