Mainland – “Empty Promises”

NYC-based indie rock quartet Mainland blend layer upon layer of rhythmic guitar so seamlessly that it seems that there are more than four people in the band. On their latest single “Empty Promises” the they bend a little vintage fuzz, angsty tinges, and intricate drums that slyly build to a compelling crescendo. And fittingly on Election Day, frontman Jordan Topf sings of misplacing trust in people that promise the world with some poignant lyrics that ring truer on this supremely important day. Here’s what Topf had to say about the song:

“Empty Promises” is a song about expectations. Sometimes you put too much blind faith into people. Its a trap. Make the right decision today about the people in power.
