Lakewood resident Duvi Honig, Founder and CEO of the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce, was selected by Governor Phil Murphy to serve on the state’s Restart and Recovery Advisory Council, which will help the state’s residents and businesses return to normal life following the Covid-19 lockdown.
Mr. Honig was appointed to a seat on the Council’s “Main Street” committee, which is tasked with shaping the reopening policies that affect small and midsize businesses in the state. A decades long entrepreneur and leader of the Chamber since 2008, Mr. Honig has a distinct understanding of the needs of business owners in all industries during both economic booms and times of crisis.
Over the years, the Chamber has gained prominence is both the corporate and governmental spheres as an effective advocate for businesses and an innovator in contemporary economic development programs. In fact, today, May 11th, was officially designated as Economic Development Day, which was enacted through legislation introduced by Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce and unanimously passed both houses of the legislature and was signed by Governor Murphy.
Unfortunately, the Covid-19 crisis and lockdown altered the realities of economic development, but Mr. Honig is eager to face down the challenges and serve as a voice for businessowners of all ethnicities.
Businessowners are at the most crucial crossroads in their lives. How we proceed will affect the ability for them and their employees to earn a livelihood in the future,” says Mr. Honig. “It is an honor to work with the governor and his team to help our state’s businessowners and the broader economy see renewed success.”
In its trademark networking fashion, the Chamber is dotting every “i” and crossing every “t” to ensure that a cross section of business and community leaders have their voices heard in this crucial process. The Chamber formed an Advisory Committee that includes State Senator Bob Singer; Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles, who is also a local business owner; Toms River Mayor Mo Hill; Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato; Ocean County Freeholder Joe Vicari, Liaison for Business Development; Moshe Kinderlehrer, Publisher of the Jewish Link, a prominent community publication throughout North and Central Jersey, and a noted community activist in the region; and Shmuel Shifrin, President, Unlimited Pure Water; among others.
